Dear Parents / Guardians,
As we approach the end of the 2016/ 17 school year a word of gratitude to all who have contributed to school life in many ways. We marked the end of the school year with a special Mass on June 22nd for all pupils and a most enjoyable Graduation Ceremony on that evening for our departing Rang 6.
The last few days saw the completion of our Sports Day on Tuesday for our infant classes and on Wednesday the senior classes had a fun-packed and energetic day in the Killannin Community Centre and Pitch.
On Thursday our Parent’s Association presented a special Thank You Gift to Ms. Kay Synott to recognise her long standing and continuing involvement with our School Garden in St. Annin’s N.S.
Today we welcomed past pupil and current Galway Senior Football manager Kevin Walsh to the school to present our winning Cumann na mBunsol, Niall Kinnevey & Gillian Lydon Cup, and Connemara Cup medals to our Gaelic Football teams who enjoyed great success on the pitches and recorded an impressive ‘treble’ in recent weeks.
Kevin imparted some gems of wisdom to the captive and attentive audience and we wish his Galway Senior Football charges all the best in the Connacht Final v. Roscommon on July 9th.
We also recognised the Cross Country Running and Soccer talent of Hannah Clarke (Rang 5) and Tiernan Howe (Rang 5) for his achievement in the Easons Spelling Bee school competition.
The Gillian Lydon Award which marks the best overall contribution to school life from within Rang 6 was awarded to Kento O’Connor, a popular and deserving winner who has been a leading light in St. Annin’s N.S. in terms of his contribution to school life in the classroom, at all sports and above all his cheerful and pleasant disposition and impeccable manners. Maith Thú Kento.
