A Celebration in First Class.....
The children in First Class celebrated being county winners in the recent Art competition "Someone Like Me " in class today. The children had a party and received Art prizes. They also created their own delicious ice creams to mark the occasion.
We will use the rest of our prize to have a "fun day" in June in lieu of a school tour.
5th Class had a wonderful morning in the garden. The spinach and carrots planted before Easter were transferred to bigger pots. Garlic was planted beside the onions which are already popping up. Potatoes and flowers were planted. The bug hotel is now ready for visitors! This was topped off by ice pops which were provided by one of the children’s parents. 🤗
Once again we are overwhelmed by your generosity in Kilannin!! Today you have raised a staggering 2000 euro from our Daffodil Day in aid of the Galway Hospice. Im sure Linda would be delighted 💔Your donations will make a real difference . We were sorry that we were unable to have our "coffee shop" we really miss seeing everyone but we will make up for it soon. Well done to everyone. Enjoy a well earned break over the Easter and stay safe. Sincere thanks again. 👏👏👏👏
Easter excitement was in the air in Junior Infants today as we headed out for our Easter Egg Hunt!🐣 the children collected an incredible 179 eggs and 5 golden Easter bunnies! We had lots of fun sharing all the eggs and raffling off our bunnies! Enjoy eating all the lovely chocolate 🥚 🍫 🐣🐰🐇🐣
Dear parents and friends,
We intend to celebrate Daffodil Day here in the school this Friday. This year will be extremely poignant for us a school and as community as we are mourning the loss of Linda Farrel. Linda was extremely involved in the Daffodil Day coffee mornings over the years and she will be sadly missed by all here in St. Annin’s. We will remember Linda and all of those who have been affect by cancer by celebrating Daffodil Day as best we can despite Covid restrictions. We are proposing that the children bring in baked goods/treat etc for a indoor/outdoor picnic in School on Friday 26th and that all children will dress in yellow. We would ask for a contribution for the Galway Hospice Foundation from each family to be paid through Aladdin.
* Please note that children will unfortunately not be able to share food due to Covid restrictions.*
Happy Mother's Day from all the children in First class.
Most of all the other beautiful things in life
come by twos and threes,
by dozens and hundreds.
Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins but there is only one MOTHER in the whole world.
Second Class settled back into school this week with lots of outdoor fun activities. They went on a scavenger hunt, played on the obstacle course and did art in the school woods. Also, the class got straight back into the Accelerated Reading programme with lots of books read and quizzes completed this week. World Book Day was celebrated by reading books and the class made a bookmark each. It's a nice novelty being the most senior class in the school!
